Welcome to Boomer & Senior Travel TV and our focus on traveling to Copenhagen Denmark.

Our first sight of Copenhagen was as we flew into Copenhagen after flying from Amsterdam Holland. What we had found was that the cheapest route for us to do was to take a Delta flight from New York City to Amsterdam and then return from Amsterdam to New York City. Sometimes it makes it a lot cheaper if you fly from another city. Then we found a more localized carrier; the Scandinavian Airlines SAS to fly us round trip in and out of Amsterdam to Copenhagen. That made it a lot less expensive so you want to check your airlines for different combination of airlines to see how much less expensive that option is. It cut ours by $300 – $400 dollars a person to do that. So be aware of that and check that.

Now of course the very first thing that I did when I got there was after checking into our hotel which was the Saga Hotel, I checked my email.
The Saga Hotel is only about a block from the main train station. When you get into the airport in Copenhagen you can take the train straight from there right into the downtown of Copenhagen and go to the central train station and there are a lot of hotels right in that area.

It is a good centralized area to be in if you’re going to go sightseeing. We stayed at the Saga Hotel that was about a block from the central station.
One of the things that I always check for when I am traveling is that my hotel has access to the internet. I have to stay in touch with everyone. The internet is very important to me. I made sure that this hotel had internet when I book it.

We were also looking for location and we chose the Saga because it was close to the train station and because it had rooms for triple occupancy. There was my husband and mother-in-law traveling with me. So we needed rooms that would hold three people. Not all hotels in Europe hold more than two people in a room so you have to check that out before you go.

I enjoyed the Saga. It had great internet service there as well as it has laundry service. Which by that point having been in Holland for a couple of weeks it was time to do laundry so it was nice to have the laundry room there. The fee for that wasn’t much and you got to do your own laundry and get it clean and done. It was locked up so you could put your cloths in lock it and then come back when it was done and get it. They allowed it to only service just one person at a time. It was a nice hotel in a great area.

Across the street and east of the central railway station is an amusement park called Tivoli Gardens. Denmark Tivoli Gardens is kind of like a mini Disneyland. It is rumored that Walt came over here and saw this and then decided to build the California Disney. It has rides, flowers, and restaurants just like any amusement park that you see.

It is supposed to really famous. There is an old roller coaster here. They have a lot of new ones too. It’s just a fun amusement park to come to in Denmark.
Tivoli has one of the oldest working wooden roller coasters as well as several others. There is a large one called “The Demon.” It also has the world’s tallest carousel. Tivoli would be a fun place to come and spend a day together as a couple.

On the opposite side of the street from the entrance to Tivoli Gardens are four statues from mythology. In this little square is where you catch the Hop on Hop off Bus.

There are two different companies. There are the red ones that you see most places and now in Europe a lot are the green ones as well.
We chose to go on the green ones this trip because in Copenhagen on the green line you didn’t have to get off the bus and change buses. The green bus did both route without ever getting off.

On the hop on hop off buses they have head phone sets that plug in and you select your own language to listen to the commentary on the area you are in. You get a complete tour and history of the area as you take the bus tour around.

You are also able to get off and then get back on. Sometimes the time between buses is every 20 to 30 minutes then you can get back on the bus. This gives you time to go sightseeing and then get back on. This is a fabulous way to get around.

The green line bus was a 48 hour ticket which we also liked as well as they will go out to the cruise ship stop so that you can get on at the cruise ship and off at the cruise ships.

I think that the hop on hop off bus red or green is a great way to go. I like using the hop on hop off buses to get around and sight see in different cities. For one thing they are good for all weather. They had a cover canvas expandable and retractable cover over the top so if it was raining or bad weather you didn’t have to get wet but you could still see everything.

They have head phone that you put on and then they have a pre-taped commentary as you go along that narrates all the sights that you see, plus you can hop off and see attractions then catch the next bus and go to the next attraction or just ride the entire route the go around and stop at the ones that interest you. It is a really convenient way and cheap way of seeing and hearing about the country.

Riding on the buses can put you up tall enough that you can see and you have the head phones that you can listen to at the same time. It gives you the whole open air experience to sit up on top. It even lets you see into area that you wouldn’t able to see into because of the height of fences.

The waterways are awesome. They are larger than they were in Holland at least wider waterways but very beautiful.

The highways and roadways here seemed very normal to me. This is a place that would be easy and comfortable to drive on if you were to rent a car.

There was the opera house that we went to on the hop on hop off bus. Then we made a stop at Christiania. Christiana is a 70’s- 60’s village that is a love kind of self governed community that is in danger of having that removed. All the hard drugs are gone from here now it’s just a hippie community but something fun to see, something different. Very different from what we ever see at home. You might want to make a stop here. I loved the walls that surrounded Christiana with its…some people would call it graffiti. I call it art. I thought it was just a fun thing to go and see.

I love towers. One of my favorite towers in Copenhagen was the “Dragon Spires.” It was over the old stock exchange the Borsen. It has three dragon tails that wind together to the top. There are three crowns on top. They represent the three Nordic countries.

Another one of my favorite ones was “The Church of Our Savior” tower. It has 250 stairs on the outside and 150 stairs on the outside that you can climb up to the top and see over Copenhagen. The inside is worth seeing with beautiful things inside.

Nicholaus Church is one of many of the buildings that were destroyed during the great fires of 1794 that burned much of Copenhagen. Only the clock tower was left the rest has been rebuilt. It is now a commercial and art center.

One of the great stops for the hop on hop off bus was the Rosenberg Castle in Denmark. Denmark has so much to see here. As you can see this castle is a little different from other castles that we have been to. As I said in the past all castles have a different look and style; built by the owner in the style and in the form that they wanted, the way that they like it.

Your castle is the same, both in your relationship and your home. You build it to your specification the way that you want yours to be like. It is uniquely you like Roseberg is unique to its self.

Rosenberg Castle was one of my top stops in Copenhagen. It is a very beautiful old castle. It also contains an exhibit of the crown jewels and the Danish Crown Regalia. It is guarded by the Royal Guards and here Gaylan decided to play one of the guards.

You should always take pictures of yourself wherever you are so that you can remember that you were there and have a little fun while you’re there too.

The Rosenberg Gardens has one of the most popular parks to visit. Remember when you see a bathroom or toilet use it! They have them at Rosenberg.

A new thing that has come around and it is really fun is the new QR Codes. You can see them posted on the outside of attractions. You will see them here on that white poster at the entrance to Rosenberg. You just use your smart phone and scan it and it will give you all the information on the places that you are visiting. It helps make a good self tour.

Another attraction is the Little Mermaid Statue. It is the most photographed woman in the world. It has had several accidents over the years. She lost her head twice and her arm once. This is a statue that is one of the most famous here. People come from all over the world to have their picture taken with it.
Another of the most famous photographed statues in Copenhagen is the Gryphon Statue and fountains. This is one of the largest in Copenhagen. It also serves as a wishing well stop. Make a wish while you’re there.

Nyhaven is probably the most photographed place in Copenhagen. You see it on post cards send all over the world. It is a beautiful street. It has brightly colored buildings.

One of the best ways to see it is to take a canal cruise. You cruise along and see the things along there. It also has parking for strollers and bikes. As you go along the water way you see things at a different level. You can pass all the crowds that are crowded on the sidewalks Go along the nice calm canals and see things from a different perspective than you have seen them earlier.

Of course a trip to Denmark wouldn’t do without eating some of the great seafood that you find and they have some other great food choices as well. When you are here one of the most famous things to eat is one of their famous hot dogs. It’s amazing! Besides the hot dog on the budget side would be burgers, fries and a drink. Sometimes that’s the way to go.

One of the busiest funest places to eat and shop is the walking street Stroget Street. Shopping shopping, shopping, people, people, people – this is Stroget Street a long long shopping street with shops and restaurants.

City Hall and Square is one place to start. It is a central location and there is lots going on. While we were there there was a fun game going on I’d like share with you. They were human size blow up balls. People wiggled into them and then ran and bashed into each other knocking their opponent across the ring. It was hilarious. We laughed and laughed.

Whether you see Copenhagen and come by train, have a rental car and drive around, take the hop on hop off bus or walk around and look at Copenhagen there has so much to see it will take a couple days or several days just to get a feel for it.

[music]

2
00:00:06,269 –> 00:00:07,709
Welcome to Boomer & Senior Travel TV

3
00:00:07,709 –> 00:00:10,077
and our focus traveling to Copenhagen

4
00:00:10,077 –> 00:00:13,046
Denmark.

5
00:00:13,046 –> 00:00:16,416
Our first sight of Copenhagen was as we flew into

6
00:00:16,416 –> 00:00:19,086
Copenhagen after flying from Amsterdam

7
00:00:19,086 –> 00:00:22,422
Holland. What we had found was that the

8
00:00:22,422 –> 00:00:24,191
cheapest route for us to do was

9
00:00:24,191 –> 00:00:25,792
to take a Delta flight

10
00:00:25,792 –> 00:00:28,028
from New York City to

11
00:00:28,028 –> 00:00:29,863
Amsterdam and then return

12
00:00:30,199 –> 00:00:31,834
from Amsterdam to New York City

13
00:00:32,199 –> 00:00:35,636
that happens a lot it makes it

14
00:00:35,636 –> 00:00:37,636
cheaper than if you fly

15
00:00:37,304 –> 00:00:38,872
from another city. Then we found

16
00:00:38,872 –> 00:00:40,872
a more localized carrier

17
00:00:41,942 –> 00:00:43,744
the Scandinavian Airlines SAS

18
00:00:43,744 –> 00:00:46,713
to fly us round trip in and out of

19
00:00:46,713 –> 00:00:49,783
Amsterdam to Copenhagen.

20
00:00:49,783 –> 00:00:52,500
That made it a lot less expensive

21
00:00:52,5 –> 00:00:54,955
so you want to check your airlines

22
00:00:54,955 –> 00:00:58,073
for different combination of airlines

23
00:00:58,073 –> 00:01:00,073
to see how much less

24
00:01:00,627 –> 00:01:02,129
expensive it is. It cut ours by

25
00:01:02,129 –> 00:01:03,931
by $300 – $400 dollars a person.

26
00:01:03,931 –> 00:01:05,165
to do that.

27
00:01:05,165 –> 00:01:06,667
So be aware of that and check that.

28
00:01:06,667 –> 00:01:09,469
Now of course the very first thing that I did

29
00:01:09,469 –> 00:01:11,773
when I got there was

30
00:01:11,773 –> 00:01:13,773
after checking into our hotel

31
00:01:14,141 –> 00:01:16,463
which was the Saga Hotel…

32
00:01:16,463 –> 00:01:18,785
The Saga Hotel is only about

33
00:01:18,785 –> 00:01:20,914
a block from the main train station

34
00:01:20,914 –> 00:01:24,051
When you get into the airport

35
00:01:24,051 –> 00:01:25,752
in Copenhagen you can take the train

36
00:01:25,752 –> 00:01:27,721
straight from there right into

37
00:01:27,721 –> 00:01:29,890
the downtown of

38
00:01:29,89 –> 00:01:31,592
Copenhagen and go

39
00:01:31,592 –> 00:01:33,785
to the central train station and the

40
00:01:33,785 –> 00:01:35,729
there are a lot of hotels right in that area.

41
00:01:35,729 –> 00:01:40,06
It is a good centralized area to be in

42
00:01:40,055 –> 00:01:41,74
if your going to go sight seeing.

43
00:01:41,735 –> 00:01:44,37
We stayed at the Saga Hotel that was about

44
00:01:44,371 –> 00:01:46,54
a block from the central station.

45
00:01:46,54 –> 00:01:49,54
One of the things that I always check for

46
00:01:49,543 –> 00:01:51,18
when I am traveling

47
00:01:51,178 –> 00:01:53,91
is that my hotel has access to

48
00:01:53,914 –> 00:01:55,29
to the internet.

49
00:01:55,287 –> 00:01:57,62
I have to stay in touch with everyone.

50
00:01:57,618 –> 00:02:00,35
Internet is very important to me.

51
00:02:00,349 –> 00:02:02,30
I made sure that this hotel had

52
00:02:02,3 –> 00:02:05,50
Internet. We were also looking for

53
00:02:05,504 –> 00:02:07,64
and we chose the Saga because it was

54
00:02:07,64 –> 00:02:09,40
close to the train station and

55
00:02:09,405 –> 00:02:11,06
because it had rooms for triple.

56
00:02:11,064 –> 00:02:14,23
There was my husband and

57
00:02:14,234 –> 00:02:15,49
mother-in-law traveling with me.

58
00:02:15,488 –> 00:02:18,84
So we needed rooms that would hold 3 people.

59
00:02:18,839 –> 00:02:23,24
Not all hotels in Europe hold more than

60
00:02:23,244 –> 00:02:25,54
two people in a room so you have to

61
00:02:25,545 –> 00:02:27,51
check that out before you go.

62
00:02:27,514 –> 00:02:30,12
I enjoyed the Saga. It had great internet

63
00:02:30,117 –> 00:02:31,93
service there as well as

64
00:02:31,928 –> 00:02:33,74
it has laundry service.

65
00:02:33,739 –> 00:02:36,48
Which by that point having been in Holland

66
00:02:36,479 –> 00:02:37,92
for a couple of weeks it was time

67
00:02:37,924 –> 00:02:40,13
to do laundry so it was nice to

68
00:02:40,127 –> 00:02:43,53
have there. The fee for that

69
00:02:43,53 –> 00:02:45,37
wasn’t much and you got to do your own

70
00:02:45,373 –> 00:02:48,87
laundry and get every clean and done.

71
00:02:48,869 –> 00:02:52,17
It was locked up so you could put your cloths

72
00:02:52,172 –> 00:02:53,87
lock it and

73
00:02:53,874 –> 00:02:55,41
then come back and get it.

74
00:02:55,409 –> 00:02:57,28
It serviced just one person at a time.

75
00:02:57,277 –> 00:02:59,68
It was a nice hotel in a

76
00:02:59,68 –> 00:03:01,21
great area.

77
00:03:01,209 –> 00:03:03,53
Across the street and east

78
00:03:03,531 –> 00:03:06,09
of the central railway station

79
00:03:06,086 –> 00:03:08,16
is an amusement

80
00:03:08,155 –> 00:03:09,66
park called

81
00:03:09,661 –> 00:03:11,09
Tivoli Gardens

82
00:03:11,091 –> 00:03:13,33
Let’s go over there.

83
00:03:13,329 –> 00:03:18,30
Denmark Tivoli Gardens

84
00:03:18,298 –> 00:03:20,53
is kind of like a mini

85
00:03:20,534 –> 00:03:22,54
Disneyland.

86
00:03:22,536 –> 00:03:25,07
It is rumored that Walt

87
00:03:25,072 –> 00:03:26,71
came over here and

88
00:03:26,707 –> 00:03:28,81
saw this and then decided to

89
00:03:28,809 –> 00:03:30,47
to build the California Disney.

90
00:03:30,466 –> 00:03:32,93
This has rides, flowers,

91
00:03:32,927 –> 00:03:35,45
restaurants just like any

92
00:03:35,449 –> 00:03:37,12
amusement park that you see

93
00:03:37,117 –> 00:03:38,82
It is supposed to really famous. There is an old

94
00:03:38,819 –> 00:03:40,65
roller coaster here

95
00:03:40,654 –> 00:03:42,77
They have a lot of new ones too. It’s just

96
00:03:42,772 –> 00:03:44,59
a fun amusement park to come

97
00:03:44,257 –> 00:03:47,00
to in Denmark.

98
00:03:46,998 –> 00:03:48,76
Tivoli has one of the oldest

99
00:03:48,762 –> 00:03:50,66
working wooden roller coasters

100
00:03:50,664 –> 00:03:53,73
as well as several others There is a

101
00:03:53,732 –> 00:03:55,36
large ones, even one called

102
00:03:55,357 –> 00:03:56,47
“The Demon.”

103
00:03:56,472 –> 00:03:58,56
It also has the world’s tallest carousel.

104
00:03:58,562 –> 00:04:01,49
Tivoli would be a fun place to

105
00:04:01,488 –> 00:04:03,39
come and spend a day together.

106
00:04:03,392 –> 00:04:04,98
as a couple

107
00:04:04,978 –> 00:04:07,25
On the opposite side of the street

108
00:04:07,247 –> 00:04:09,08
from the entrance to Tivoli Gardens

109
00:04:09,082 –> 00:04:11,45
are these four statues

110
00:04:11,451 –> 00:04:12,96
from mythology.

111
00:04:12,958 –> 00:04:14,40
In this little square is right

112
00:04:14,398 –> 00:04:15,93
where you catch the

113
00:04:15,93 –> 00:04:17,06
Hop on Hop off Bus.

114
00:04:17,057 –> 00:04:19,06
There are two different ones.

115
00:04:20,093 –> 00:04:22,22
There are the red ones

116
00:04:22,223 –> 00:04:24,40
that you see most places

117
00:04:24,397 –> 00:04:26,33
and now in Europe a lot

118
00:04:26,333 –> 00:04:28,03
are the green ones as well.

119
00:04:28,034 –> 00:04:29,94
We chose to go on

120
00:04:29,936 –> 00:04:30,40
the green ones.

121
00:04:30,403 –> 00:04:34,51
The hop off hop on buses

122
00:04:34,508 –> 00:04:36,98
there are several different lines

123
00:04:36,977 –> 00:04:39,15
Here there is a red line and a green line

124
00:04:39,146 –> 00:04:41,17
We took the green line

125
00:04:41,17 –> 00:04:43,12
this trip because

126
00:04:43,121 –> 00:04:46,19
in Denmark on the green line you didn’t

127
00:04:46,186 –> 00:04:47,32
have to get off the bus and change buses.

128
00:04:47,521 –> 00:04:49,12
The green bus did both routes

129
00:04:49,122 –> 00:04:50,97
without getting off.

130
00:04:50,969 –> 00:04:53,01
On the hop on hop off buses they have

131
00:04:53,013 –> 00:04:54,93
head phone sets that plug in

132
00:04:54,928 –> 00:04:57,94
and you select your own language to listen to

133
00:04:57,935 –> 00:05:01,37
the commentary on the area you are in.

134
00:05:01,372 –> 00:05:04,47
You get a complete tour and history of the area

135
00:05:04,471 –> 00:05:06,90
as you take the bus tour around

136
00:05:06,898 –> 00:05:09,28
You are also able to hop off

137
00:05:09,276 –> 00:05:10,91
and stop and get off

138
00:05:10,911 –> 00:05:12,78
and then get back on. Sometimes

139
00:05:12,779 –> 00:05:15,02
between every 20 to 30 minutes

140
00:05:15,025 –> 00:05:17,72
you can get back on the bus

141
00:05:17,717 –> 00:05:19,95
at the different stops. You have time

142
00:05:19,953 –> 00:05:21,85
to go sightseeing and then get back on.

143
00:05:21,852 –> 00:05:23,82
This is a fabulous way

144
00:05:23,824 –> 00:05:27,79
to get around.

145
00:05:27,794 –> 00:05:29,84
The green line bus was a 48 hour

146
00:05:29,839 –> 00:05:31,70
ticket which we also liked

147
00:05:31,697 –> 00:05:33,37
as well as they will go out

148
00:05:33,366 –> 00:05:35,00
to the cruise line ship

149
00:05:35,0 –> 00:05:37,14
so that you can get on at the cruise ship

150
00:05:37,137 –> 00:05:38,94
and off at the cruise ships.

151
00:05:38,939 –> 00:05:41,24
I think that the hop on hop off bus

152
00:05:41,241 –> 00:05:42,78
red or green is a great

153
00:05:42,776 –> 00:05:43,89
way to go.

154
00:05:43,888 –> 00:05:50,22
[seeing buses no voice]

155
00:05:50,217 –> 00:05:52,05
I like using the hop on hop off buses

156
00:05:52,052 –> 00:05:54,12
to go around in different

157
00:05:54,12 –> 00:05:55,79
cities and go sight seeing.

158
00:05:55,789 –> 00:05:58,42
One is they are good for all weather.

159
00:05:58,425 –> 00:06:01,63
Even the ones that have the tops on them

160
00:06:01,628 –> 00:06:03,58
like the green buses because they had the

161
00:06:03,578 –> 00:06:05,67
a cover that would pull over the top.

162
00:06:05,668 –> 00:06:08,03
so if it was raining you

163
00:06:08,034 –> 00:06:09,43
didn’t have to get wet but you could still

164
00:06:09,429 –> 00:06:11,67
see it. They also have these

165
00:06:11,671 –> 00:06:13,66
head phone that you put on

166
00:06:13,656 –> 00:06:16,28
and then they have a pre-taped

167
00:06:16,276 –> 00:06:18,39
commentary as you go along

168
00:06:18,392 –> 00:06:20,34
that narrates all the sights that you see, plus

169
00:06:20,343 –> 00:06:22,43
any of the ones you want to hop off

170
00:06:22,433 –> 00:06:24,24
and see them and catch the next

171
00:06:24,244 –> 00:06:25,73
bus and go to the next thing.

172
00:06:25,73 –> 00:06:27,50
Really convenient way and

173
00:06:27,495 –> 00:06:28,89
cheap way of seeing

174
00:06:28,888 –> 00:06:30,28
and hearing about the country.

175
00:06:30,281 –> 00:06:32,09
to view the city that you are in.

176
00:06:32,092 –> 00:06:34,19
Riding on the buses can put you up

177
00:06:34,194 –> 00:06:36,18
tall enough that you can see

178
00:06:36,179 –> 00:06:38,59
and you have the head phone that you can

179
00:06:38,594 –> 00:06:40,03
listen at the same time but it give you

180
00:06:40,033 –> 00:06:41,90
the whole open air experience

181
00:06:41,902 –> 00:06:43,52
to sit up on top.

182
00:06:43,516 –> 00:06:45,47
It even let you see

183
00:06:45,472 –> 00:06:46,91
into area that you

184
00:06:46,907 –> 00:06:48,31
otherwise would no be able to see into.

185
00:06:48,308 –> 00:06:49,88
because of the height of fences.

186
00:06:49,876 –> 00:06:52,66
The waterways are awesome

187
00:06:52,665 –> 00:06:54,81
They are larger than they were in Holland

188
00:06:54,814 –> 00:06:56,52
a wider waterway

189
00:06:56,516 –> 00:06:58,24
but very beautiful.

190
00:06:58,238 –> 00:07:00,10
The highways and roadways here

191
00:07:00,095 –> 00:07:02,86
seemed very normal to me. Something that

192
00:07:02,856 –> 00:07:04,79
would be easy and comfortable

193
00:07:04,786 –> 00:07:06,32
to drive on if you were to

194
00:07:06,318 –> 00:07:07,29
rent a car.

195
00:07:07,294 –> 00:07:09,40
There was the opera house that we went to

196
00:07:09,396 –> 00:07:11,83
on the hop on hop off bus

197
00:07:11,831 –> 00:07:13,77
Then we made a stop at

198
00:07:13,767 –> 00:07:15,47
Christiania.

199
00:07:15,467 –> 00:07:20,24
We are in Denmark

200
00:07:20,24 –> 00:07:22,08
this is Christiana

201
00:07:22,075 –> 00:07:24,08
Christiana is a

202
00:07:24,077 –> 00:07:26,85
70’s- 60’s village that

203
00:07:26,846 –> 00:07:31,82
is a love kind of self governed

204
00:07:31,818 –> 00:07:33,95
community that is in

205
00:07:33,95 –> 00:07:37,22
danger of having

206
00:07:37,223 –> 00:07:38,69
that removed.

207
00:07:38,692 –> 00:07:40,40
All the hard drugs are gone from here now

208
00:07:40,405 –> 00:07:43,10
It’s just a hippie community

209
00:07:43,099 –> 00:07:44,83
but something fun to see, something different

210
00:07:44,831 –> 00:07:47,23
Very different from what we ever see at home.

211
00:07:47,232 –> 00:07:50,07
You might want to make a stop here.

212
00:07:50,07 –> 00:07:56,71
I loved the walls that surrounded Christiana.

213
00:07:56,71 –> 00:07:59,51
with it’s..some people would call it graffiti

214
00:07:59,512 –> 00:08:01,45
I call it art.

215
00:08:01,481 –> 00:08:04,45
I thought it was just a fun thing to go and see.

216
00:08:04,451 –> 00:08:07,02
I love towers. One of my favorite towers

217
00:08:07,02 –> 00:08:10,52
was the “Dragon Spires” It was

218
00:08:10,523 –> 00:08:13,19
over the old stock exchange

219
00:08:13,193 –> 00:08:15,00
the Borsen.

220
00:08:14,995 –> 00:08:17,16
It has three dragon tails that wind together

221
00:08:17,162 –> 00:08:19,50
to the top.

222
00:08:19,499 –> 00:08:21,62
There are three crowns on top

223
00:08:21,621 –> 00:08:23,67
They represent the three Nordic countries.

224
00:08:23,67 –> 00:08:26,31
Another one of my favorite ones

225
00:08:26,311 –> 00:08:28,68
was “The Church of Our Savior”

226
00:08:28,68 –> 00:08:30,26
tower. This

227
00:08:30,259 –> 00:08:32,26
It has 250 stairs on the outside and

228
00:08:32,255 –> 00:08:34,21
150 stairs on the outside that you can climb

229
00:08:34,214 –> 00:08:38,94
to the top and see over Copenhagen

230
00:08:38,943 –> 00:08:40,49
As well as a lot of beautiful things inside

231
00:08:40,487 –> 00:08:43,22
Nicholaus Church is one

232
00:08:43,223 –> 00:08:45,49
of many of the buildings that were in

233
00:08:45,491 –> 00:08:47,77
was destroyed during the great fires

234
00:08:47,766 –> 00:08:49,56
of 1794

235
00:08:49,562 –> 00:08:52,46
that burned much of Copenhagen. Only the

236
00:08:52,457 –> 00:08:53,48
clock tower was left the rest

237
00:08:53,478 –> 00:08:55,24
has been rebuilt.

238
00:08:55,243 –> 00:08:57,30
This now a commercial and art center.

239
00:08:57,303 –> 00:09:01,14
Rosenberg Castle in

240
00:09:01,141 –> 00:09:06,35
Denmark. Denmark has so much to see here

241
00:09:06,346 –> 00:09:08,88
The hop on hop off buses

242
00:09:08,882 –> 00:09:10,52
This is one of the stops

243
00:09:10,517 –> 00:09:12,75
the Rosenberg Castle. As you can see

244
00:09:12,751 –> 00:09:15,40
This castle is a little different from other castles

245
00:09:15,398 –> 00:09:16,66
that we have been to

246
00:09:16,656 –> 00:09:18,70
As I said in the past all castles

247
00:09:18,695 –> 00:09:20,46
have a different look

248
00:09:20,46 –> 00:09:22,63
and style built by the owner

249
00:09:22,629 –> 00:09:25,15
in the style and form that they wanted

250
00:09:25,15 –> 00:09:28,31
The way that they like it.

251
00:09:28,308 –> 00:09:30,35
Your castle is the same both in your

252
00:09:30,352 –> 00:09:31,80
relationship and your home.

253
00:09:31,805 –> 00:09:34,01
You build it to your specification the way that

254
00:09:34,007 –> 00:09:36,21
you want yours to be like.

255
00:09:36,209 –> 00:09:38,64
It is uniquely you like Roseberg

256
00:09:38,645 –> 00:09:40,29
is unique to its self.

257
00:09:40,29 –> 00:09:43,22
Rosenberg Castle was one of my top

258
00:09:43,216 –> 00:09:44,98
stops in Copenhagen

259
00:09:44,98 –> 00:09:48,18
Very beautiful old castle.

260
00:09:48,185 –> 00:09:50,52
It also contains an

261
00:09:50,523 –> 00:09:52,36
exhibit of the crown jewels

262
00:09:52,364 –> 00:09:55,90
and the Danish Crown Regalia.

263
00:09:55,895 –> 00:09:57,61
It is also guarded by the Royal

264
00:09:57,612 –> 00:10:00,03
Guards and here Gaylan

265
00:10:00,033 –> 00:10:01,77
decided to play one of the guards.

266
00:10:01,768 –> 00:10:04,04
You should always take pictures of yourself

267
00:10:04,037 –> 00:10:05,78
wherever you are so that you can remember

268
00:10:05,785 –> 00:10:07,47
that you were there and have a little fun

269
00:10:07,474 –> 00:10:08,81
while your there too.

270
00:10:08,808 –> 00:10:11,61
The Rosenberg is one of the stops

271
00:10:11,611 –> 00:10:13,73
on the hop on hop off buses.

272
00:10:13,727 –> 00:10:16,05
The Rosenberg Gardens is one of the most

273
00:10:16,049 –> 00:10:17,78
most popular parks

274
00:10:17,784 –> 00:10:19,85
as well to visit.

275
00:10:19,853 –> 00:10:21,72
Remember when you see a bathroom

276
00:10:21,721 –> 00:10:23,42
or toilet use it!

277
00:10:23,423 –> 00:10:25,22
They have them at Rosenberg.

278
00:10:25,225 –> 00:10:26,92
A new thing that has come around

279
00:10:26,916 –> 00:10:28,53
and it is really fun is the new

280
00:10:28,528 –> 00:10:30,40
QR Codes

281
00:10:30,396 –> 00:10:32,26
You can see them on the outside of attractions

282
00:10:32,256 –> 00:10:34,35
You will see them here on that white poster

283
00:10:34,346 –> 00:10:35,92
at the entrance to Rosenberg

284
00:10:35,925 –> 00:10:38,54
You just use your smart phone and

285
00:10:38,538 –> 00:10:39,92
scan it and it will give you

286
00:10:39,919 –> 00:10:41,59
all the information on the places

287
00:10:41,591 –> 00:10:42,98
that you are visiting.

288
00:10:42,984 –> 00:10:45,12
It helps make a good self tour.

289
00:10:45,12 –> 00:10:48,37
Hi, we are in Denmark. This is the

290
00:10:48,371 –> 00:10:50,09
Little Mermaid Statue. It is the most

291
00:10:50,089 –> 00:10:51,88
photographed woman in the world.

292
00:10:51,885 –> 00:10:54,29
It has had several accidents over the years

293
00:10:54,287 –> 00:10:56,69
she lost her head twice

294
00:10:56,689 –> 00:10:58,08
and arm once.

295
00:10:58,077 –> 00:11:01,69
This is a statue that is the most famous

296
00:11:01,694 –> 00:11:03,51
here. People come from all over the

297
00:11:03,51 –> 00:11:05,83
world to have their picture taken with it.

298
00:11:05,832 –> 00:11:15,58
Another of the most famous photographed

299
00:11:15,575 –> 00:11:17,07
statues in Copenhagen

300
00:11:17,071 –> 00:11:18,46
is the Gryphon Statue

301
00:11:18,464 –> 00:11:21,18
and fountains. This is one of the largest

302
00:11:21,181 –> 00:11:23,11
in Copenhagen.

303
00:11:23,108 –> 00:11:25,62
It also serves as a wishing well stop.

304
00:11:25,618 –> 00:11:28,73
Make a wish. Nyhaven is probably the most

305
00:11:28,727 –> 00:11:31,79
photographed place in Copenhagen.

306
00:11:31,792 –> 00:11:33,86
It is a beautiful street.

307
00:11:33,86 –> 00:11:36,13
It has brightly colored buildings.

308
00:11:36,129 –> 00:11:37,74
One of the best ways to see it is to take

309
00:11:37,736 –> 00:11:39,57
a canal cruise.

310
00:11:39,566 –> 00:11:42,47
You cruise along and see the things

311
00:11:42,473 –> 00:11:43,80
along there. It also has

312
00:11:43,803 –> 00:11:46,51
parking for strollers and

313
00:11:46,514 –> 00:11:49,28
bikes. As you go along the water

314
00:11:49,275 –> 00:11:51,20
way you just see things at a different

315
00:11:51,204 –> 00:11:54,31
level. You can pass all the crowds

316
00:11:54,314 –> 00:11:56,45
that are crowded on the sidewalks

317
00:11:56,452 –> 00:11:58,82
Go along the nice calm canals

318
00:11:58,818 –> 00:12:00,54
and see things from a different perspective.

319
00:12:00,538 –> 00:12:02,42
than you have seen them earlier.

320
00:12:02,121 –> 00:12:04,46
Of course a trip to Denmark wouldn’t

321
00:12:04,457 –> 00:12:06,53
do without eating some of the great

322
00:12:06,526 –> 00:12:08,16
seafood that you find

323
00:12:08,161 –> 00:12:10,36
and they have some other great foods as well.

324
00:12:10,36 –> 00:12:12,20
Let’s turn to Gaylan. Here we are in

325
00:12:12,198 –> 00:12:13,50
Copenhagen Denmark

326
00:12:13,499 –> 00:12:15,56
When you are here this is

327
00:12:15,562 –> 00:12:17,50
one of the most famous things to eat

328
00:12:17,503 –> 00:12:19,09
one of their famous hot dogs.

329
00:12:19,091 –> 00:12:21,37
It’s amazing!

330
00:12:21,367 –> 00:12:22,85
I’m going to munch it down.

331
00:12:22,853 –> 00:12:26,71
[eating]

332
00:12:26,707 –> 00:12:30,15
it’s good!

333
00:12:30,149 –> 00:12:31,96
Besides the hot dog on the budget side

334
00:12:31,955 –> 00:12:33,86
would be your burgers and french fries

335
00:12:33,859 –> 00:12:35,69
and a drink. Sometimes

336
00:12:35,688 –> 00:12:36,92
that’s the way to go.

337
00:12:36,924 –> 00:12:39,66
One of the busiest funnest places

338
00:12:39,664 –> 00:12:42,12
to eat and shop

339
00:12:42,125 –> 00:12:43,98
is the walking street

340
00:12:43,983 –> 00:12:47,60
Stroget Street. Shopping

341
00:12:47,605 –> 00:12:49,04
shopping, shopping, people, people, people

342
00:12:49,035 –> 00:12:51,50
this is Stroget Street

343
00:12:51,504 –> 00:12:54,67
a long long shopping street

344
00:12:54,674 –> 00:12:56,11
with shops and restaurants

345
00:12:56,109 –> 00:12:58,34
This is in Copenhagen Denmark.

346
00:12:58,344 –> 00:13:01,86
City Hall and Square is

347
00:13:01,862 –> 00:13:03,52
one place to start it is kind of

348
00:13:03,516 –> 00:13:05,02
central location

349
00:13:05,02 –> 00:13:06,79
and there is lots going on

350
00:13:06,786 –> 00:13:08,60
While we were there there was a

351
00:13:08,596 –> 00:13:09,96
fun game going on I’d like

352
00:13:09,956 –> 00:13:11,42
share with you.

353
00:13:11,424 –> 00:13:20,58
[laughing]

354
00:13:20,578 –> 00:13:27,14
[more laughing]

355
00:13:27,14 –> 00:13:38,35
[laughing and background noise]

356
00:13:38,351 –> 00:13:42,12
Whether you see Copenhagen and come by

357
00:13:42,121 –> 00:13:44,46
train or if you have a

358
00:13:44,457 –> 00:13:45,69
rental car and drive around

359
00:13:45,692 –> 00:13:47,53
and look at Copenhagen

360
00:13:47,527 –> 00:13:49,73
take the hop on hop off bus

361
00:13:49,729 –> 00:13:52,30
or you just walk, Copenhagen

362
00:13:52,298 –> 00:13:57,40
has so much to see it will take a couple

363
00:13:57,404 –> 00:13:58,66
days or several days just to get

364
00:13:58,658 –> 00:14:00,14
a feel for it.

365
00:14:00,144 –> 00:14:06,28
[music]
